A simple, step-by-step guide — takes about 60 seconds
First, thank you for being a Jimbo subscriber! Whether you’ve been with us for a week or several years, your support means the world to me. Jim and I are grateful for every single subscriber who’s invested in fishing Lake Lanier with us.
If you’re ready to cancel — no hard feelings. Life changes, priorities shift, and sometimes a subscription just isn’t the right fit anymore. I want to make canceling as easy as possible for you. No phone calls required, no “are you sure?” guilt trips, no hoops to jump through.
This guide walks you through exactly how to cancel.
Important: Only YOU Can Cancel — Here’s Why
Your subscription is set up through PayPal, and PayPal puts you in complete control. This is actually a good thing for you — it means no one (not even us) can charge you, modify your subscription, or reactivate it without your direct action.
The flip side: it also means we can’t cancel your subscription for you. PayPal doesn’t give merchants that ability. Only the account holder (you) can cancel through your PayPal account.
I know that can feel frustrating if you’re ready to cancel right now. That’s why I’ve made these instructions as clear as possible — and why I’m available to walk you through it personally if you get stuck (more on that below).
“But I Don’t Have a PayPal Account!”
This is the #1 thing subscribers tell me — and I get it, because it doesn’t feel like you signed up for PayPal. You just paid for the videos.
Here’s the truth: You actually do have a PayPal account. When you subscribed to Jimbo’s videos, PayPal automatically created (or linked) an account using your email address. They need an account on their end to manage the recurring monthly billing. This happens behind the scenes, so most subscribers never realize it.
If you’ve never logged into PayPal before, here’s how to access your account:
- Go to paypal.com/signin
- Enter the same email address you used when you subscribed to Jimbo’s videos
- Click “Forgot password?” under the password field
- PayPal will email you a password reset link (usually within a minute or two)
- Click the link, create a new password, and log in
Once you’re in, follow the cancellation steps below.
Still can’t get in? Call or text me at 703-346-2177 and I’ll help you figure out which email address you used, or we’ll work through it together on the phone.
How to Cancel: 5 Simple Steps
Step 1: Log Into PayPal
Go to paypal.com and log into your account using the email address you used to subscribe.
Tip: If you can’t remember which email you used, check your inbox for an email from “[email protected]” with the subject line “You sent a payment to Jimbo On Lanier” or “You received a payment receipt.”
Step 2: Open Your Settings
In the top right corner of the PayPal screen, click the gear icon (⚙️). This opens your account settings.
Step 3: Click “Payments”
In the Settings menu, find and click Payments.
Step 4: Click “Manage Automatic Payments”
You’ll see a section called Automatic Payments or Manage Automatic Payments. Click it. This is where PayPal lists all the recurring subscriptions you have set up through your account.
Step 5: Find Jimbo On Lanier and Cancel
Look for Jimbo On Lanier (or “Jimbo On Lanier Video Reports”) in your list of automatic payments. Click on it, then click Cancel or Cancel Automatic Payments.
PayPal will ask you to confirm. Click Cancel Automatic Payments one more time.
That’s it. You’ll see a confirmation that your subscription has been canceled. PayPal will also send you a confirmation email for your records.
What Happens After You Cancel
- No more charges. PayPal will not bill you again.
- You keep access until your current billing period ends. If you cancel mid-month, you’ll still have access to videos through the end of that month.
- Your account stays in our system, so if you ever want to come back, signing up again is quick and easy.
- You’ll receive a confirmation email from PayPal confirming the cancellation. Save this for your records.
Stuck? Can’t Find the Buttons?
PayPal occasionally redesigns their website, and sometimes the buttons move. If you can’t find what you need, don’t get frustrated and don’t file a dispute — just reach out and I’ll help.
Call or text Agenna: 703-346-2177
I’m available most days between 8am and 8pm Eastern. I’ll stay on the phone with you while you click through PayPal’s screens. Most cancellations take less than 2 minutes once you know where to click.
You can also email me at the address listed on our contact page.
A Quick Word About Refunds
If you’ve been charged for a month you didn’t intend to renew, please contact me directly before disputing the charge with PayPal or your bank. I routinely issue refunds for recent charges when customers reach out — usually within 24 hours.
Why this matters: Disputes and chargebacks cost us a lot in PayPal fees and can damage our merchant standing. A simple email or text saying “Hey, I forgot to cancel — can I get a refund for this month?” almost always results in a same-day refund. There’s no need for the dispute process.
Just ask. We’re reasonable people.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I really, truly don’t have a PayPal account. How is this possible? A: When you subscribed, PayPal created one automatically using your email — even if you never set a password or logged in. It’s a quirk of how recurring billing works on their platform. Try the password reset steps above using the email you subscribed with. If that doesn’t work, call me at 703-346-2177 and I’ll help you sort it out.
Q: I canceled but I’m still seeing charges. What happened? A: Make sure you canceled in PayPal (not just on our website — we don’t have a cancel button there because PayPal doesn’t allow it). Also check that you canceled the right subscription if you have multiple. If you’re still seeing charges after canceling in PayPal, send me your PayPal cancellation confirmation email and I’ll investigate immediately.
Q: Can I pause my subscription instead of canceling? A: PayPal doesn’t offer a pause feature, but you can cancel and resubscribe anytime. Your past payment history doesn’t transfer, but signing up again is fast.
Q: I can’t log into PayPal even after a password reset. What should I do? A: First, try the password reset one more time and check your spam folder for the reset email. If that still doesn’t work, contact PayPal directly for account access issues — they can help you recover your account or verify your identity. Once you’re back in, follow the steps above. You can also call me at 703-346-2177 and we’ll work through it together.
Q: Can I get a refund for past months I didn’t use? A: We handle refund requests case-by-case. Generally, recent charges (within the past month or two) we’re happy to refund if you simply ask. Older charges are harder to refund because PayPal has already processed and remitted those funds. Just reach out and we’ll figure something out.
Q: I’m being charged but I don’t remember subscribing. A: This sometimes happens if a family member used your PayPal account, or if you subscribed a long time ago and forgot. Email or text me at 703-346-2177 — I can pull up your account, confirm the signup details, and either help you cancel or process a refund if appropriate.
Q: I only need the subscription during tournament season. Is there a better option? A: Yes! A lot of our subscribers do exactly this. You can cancel after tournament season ends and resubscribe when you’re ready next year. Or text me at 703-346-2177 and I can let you know which upcoming weeks of content will be most useful for the tournaments you’re fishing — so you only pay for what you’ll really use.
Q: What if I want to come back later? A: We’d love to have you back! Just visit jimboonlanier.com/jimbos-weekly-video-fishing-reports/ and subscribe again. Same email, same login — you’ll pick up right where you left off.
