A BIG THANK YOU TO: John Megel Chevrolet and 400 Ink – Hopefully you guys have had an opportunity to watch the recent video announcement I made earlier this week!  I am ECSTATIC to welcome two new sponsors to Jimbo Nation – John Megel Chevrolet and 400 Ink!  Jonathan Megel and his team at MegelChevy.com have put me in a brand new 2019 Silverado RST! This ride is SO Sweet!  I am so grateful to John Megel Chevy as well as to Cary Bell at 400 Ink who did a PHENOMENAL job wrapping this truck.  I look forward to showing you the truck personally in the coming weeks on my trips, and if you see me at a ramp – come over and say hello!

Why the New Video Fishing Reports?

Moving forward, these video reports will be my primary way of communicating my fishing activities to the Lanier Fishing community. I will still do sporadic written reports, but I have found that through these videos I am able to be much more descriptive and specific than I can in a written report.  I can show the exact baits I am using to include colors, sizes, as well as the tackle I am using. Further, in the video format I can provide a very specific description of the presentation I am using, in addition to showing specific locations on a Lanier map where I have been catching fish that week. And lastly, I feel that in the video format I can impart tips and bits of wisdom regarding specific fishing situations that are situational and simply cannot be conveyed in a written format.  To this point, I have received a lot of very positive feedback from my subscribers on these reports, and am very encouraged that they are enjoying what now have turned into 10-15 minute video fishing reports each week.  Overall, the videos allow me to stay more personally connected to the Lanier Fishing community – I do hope you will chose to become a member and join me on this exciting and informative journey.  I think you will find the information and the growth you will experience as an angler WELL worth the investment.  In terms of edification, allow me to share a text I received recently from one of my subscribers that wishes to remain anonymous:

“Hi Jimbo. I am one of your subscribers. I fish in a small club and I usually come in dead last. Well….. Guess what? Now that I have you in my corner, we came in 2nd place out of 15 boat’s. We missed 1st place by 1 1/2 oz. If you share this, please don’t reveal who I am. I don’t want the other guys in my club to know my secret. Lol”

Current Conditions

Water Temp –   53  degrees
Water Level –   3.0 feet Over full pool
Currently the lake stands at 3.0 feet over full pool, and sits around 52 degrees surface temperature. The lake has been coming down steadily now for several days, but we still have a long way to go to be back down to level pool. This week of dry weather coming up should help for sure. The backs of the live creeks in the lower lake are stained.  The lake above Brown’s Bridge is stained and progresses to muddy as you approach Gainesville Marina.  Please be careful of floating debris when navigating the lake as there is still some of it out there.

What’s Happening With The Fish…

The fish are definitely and finally in full pre-spawn mode.  They are still somewhat spread out and somewhat unpredictable, but they are moving.  A worm and a jig have been our best bet for catching fish this week. We have been presenting the plastics on a shaky head.  We have been working these baits fairly shallow on rocky and clay points at the mouths of pockets and creeks as well as deeper in ditches. Also, a shallow to medium diver like the Castaway 1.5 Shad crank can be good when the wind is blowing.  Work the crank baits on shallow rock points and clay banks, both in creeks and on the main lake when you do find some wind.  Some days the wood in these areas is holding fish as well, so make sure to make some casts to the now many pieces of flooded cover.
