Current Conditions

Water Temp –   53  degrees
Water Level – .6 feet below full pool
The lake now stands at .6 feet below full pool. The main lake is fairly clear, and the creeks are stained and have become more so in some areas. Things are about to change however with all the rain we are receiving this weekend.  I am sure the surface temperature will drop further, and the rivers will certainly muddy, as will the creeks stain again.  The lower lake should maintain decent clarity.

This is a great time to learn the deep timber bite with a spoon, worm, and jig, as well as the SuperSpin fishing in the ditches. Here are my open dates for December: 11, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 28, 29, 30, 31.   Give me a call and let’s fish!

The Bite is Good!

The spoon bite has remained good this past week.  Look in the 35-55 ft range for the spoon fish, but that can change any day in terms of the depth they are holding based on the bait.  Look for the fish to be tighter to the timber on sunny days, and roaming more on the flat areas in those deep ditches on cloudy days.  We have also still been working shallower rocky points with a jig and worm in the mornings and sometimes throughout the day.  These slower presentations are becoming good options out in the ditches as well.  We are catching some worm and jig fish in the 20-30 foot range, but I will say the presence of rock seems to be a key.  The creek ditches are holding some fish now in shallower water and we have been catching some on the SuperSpin down in the ditches on some days – so count that bite has officially started and ready for training!  Also, with the cooling water temperatures, look for the jerkbait bite to pick up soon back in pockets. THIS is the time to learn those winter patterns – ditch fishing – timber fishing – spoon fishing….its a great time to learn them all.  I hope you will make plans to come join me!
